Cookbooks

Alternative Vegan - Dino Sarma. This is a great cookbook that has no mock meats or processed foods. Focusing on traditional Indian food, this cookbook is a safe bet if you like culture. It is also packed with Dino&s famous stories!

Veganomicon- Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero. This is certainly a very complete cookbook. It&s sheer size will seem daunting at first, but the introduction is sure to break that first impression. This cookbook contains many gluten and soy free recipes, and uses processed food as often as it avoids it. Contains traditional recipes and cultural recipes.

Clean Food- Terry Walters. What a unique idea for a cookbook. A combination of cooking seasonally, ethically, and simply, this book is a fantastic addition to your kitchen. It is on the expensive side, but I think that it is money well spent.

Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World- Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero. The authors of Veganomicon are "changing the world one cupcake at a time". We're left with a cute, creative book devoted entirely to cupcakes! It is a good introduction to vegan baking, as the recipes can be transferred to cakes easily. It makes a great gift for an veg curious friend who loves to bake.

Vegan Express-Nava Atlas. This well seasoned author brings us yet another cookbook. Author of (Brendan's favourite) 'The Vegetarian Family Cookbook', Atlas presents us with a complete vegan cookbook. This book is very easy to navigate and has a clean design. She presents a nice combination of natural foods, and vegan products like seitan and tofu.

Free the Animals -Ingrid Newkirk. A true account of the begenning of the Animal Liberation Front in the US. We do not condone direct action in any way, but this book presents an interesting action novel.
